Are pancakes healthy to eat?

Most things are okay to eat as long as you eat them in moderation and that includes pancakes. The problems people face with gaining weight and becoming unhealthy don’t always have so much to do with what they’re eating as with how much of it they eat and the extras they pile onto it.

If you like pancakes and feel like having pancakes for breakfast today, have pancakes for breakfast today; but it would probably be best that you make the pancakes yourself in your own kitchen rather than going out to restaurants that serve pancakes for breakfast. Making the pancakes yourself assures you can control the size and number of the pancakes you consume. Pancake houses tend to make their pancakes very big and serve as many as four unnecessarily large pancakes along with sides like bacon, eggs and sausages which elevate the calorie count exponentially.

Do your vegetarian friends make you feel ashamed to eat meat?

Myra and Janice had been friends for ten years until an argument over the morality of eating meat resulted in the end of their friendship. Myra became a vegetarian in 2006 and in Janice’s opinion soon began to take her vegetarian agenda a little too far, trying to push her new-found belief that eating meat was wrong on everyone around her. Every time they would go out to eat Myra would criticize Janice’s meal choices which invariably included some variety of meat since Janice was an unapologetic meat lover.

“She kept insisting I was selfish and lacking conscience,” explained Janice. “It got to where I dreaded going out to eat with her, but she was my best friend and we’d had our Friday night ritual of going out for dinner for years. I didn’t know how to just suddenly stop going.”

Have some pasta with spinach and red bell peppers for dinner tonight

Wondering what to make for dinner tonight? Why not make some pasta with Spinach and red bell peppers tossed with olive oil, parsley and your favorite seasonings? The photo that inspired the idea for pasta with spinach and red bell peppers comes via Flickr from user moria who seems to love to cook judging by her collection of food related pictures.

If a minute viewing Moira’s vegan foods picture set doesn’t make you want to get up and go cook up something yummy and healthy, then there’s just no hope for you and that’s all there is to that.

Seriously, you don’t have to deprive yourself of food or think of eating as something bad. The key to maintaining a healthy figure is to control your urge to eat under the weight of pressure and stress and to get exercise.

FAT!SO? : Because You Don’t Have to Apologize for Your Size

I realize that someone who obsesses every day about her weight while fluctuating between a size 4 and a size 6 (for the moment at least) is not someone anyone would want to listen to, especially when it comes to recommending a book titled “FAT!SO? : Because Yo Don’t Have to Apologize for Your Size“. It’s even more unlikely that anyone will take such a person seriously after learning she didn’t even read the book herself; but nevertheless, I think any book that aims to tell women to stop apologizing, crying, putting themselves through hell day in and day out trying to live up to a superficial image is a book that women should want to read more so than they want to read a book titled “Skinny Bitch”.

I realize at the end of the day all any woman wants is to feel good about herself, and many women, myself included, get into the habit of thinking the only way they can feel good about themselves is if they wear a certain size and weigh under a certain number of pounds; but what if that’s not the case? What if you can feel good about yourself no matter what size you wear or how much you weigh?

When one of the world’s highest paid supermodels gains weight and develops back fat, cellulite and love handles

Months ago there was a bit of an uproar over Karolina Kurkova’s falling from sexy grace by gaining a little weight and getting cellulite and back fat. It’s old news so you probably already heard about it, but this is the first I’ve come across story.

It’s unfortunate for Karolina that she had to endure what she endured with all the criticism. It’s hard to say whether she was brave or foolish to walk the runway in a bikini knowing her body was not in the condition expected of a top model. I mean, you just can’t have a normal woman’s body problems if you’re going to be a top model. Whatever it takes, you must defy the laws of nature.

Seriously though, how dare the people in the audience be “shocked” and “appalled”. What the hell do they look like in a bikini? But that’s the way life works I guess.

When she was skinny and tight she was perfection and they all wanted her. When she gains a little weight for whatever reason she’s disgusting and shouldn’t dare show her body. Such a shame to be judged only for your looks.

No woman hailed for her beauty is lucky because the moment she loses that beauty, which she inevitably does, she loses all of her adoring fans.

Women should rise up in arms, but of course they wont. Many of the women in the audience were probably as “shocked” and “appalled” even while knowing they themselves are not perfect; or if they are the skinny rich bitch type, knowing fully well what it costs them to keep the weight off.

Critics Up In Arms Over “Fat” Victorias Secret Model “With Cellulite”

Skinny rich women don’t get up first thing in the morning and eat left over pork and tortilla chips

Really want to know how rich women stay so skinny? Read “How the Rich Get Thin: Park Avenue’s Top Diet Doctor Reveals the Secrets to Losing Weight and Feeling Great.”

Most people who read the book said they found it useful, but frankly from the description alone it seems more suited to people who are willing to practically eat nothing in order to stay thin, which probably describes the average rich woman on Park Avenue.

If you want to look like the average rich woman on Park avenue then by all means adapt their eating habits. Eating like a Park Avenue rich bitch will surely help you in your quest to look like one.

Rich women don’t eat much. Eating is almost taboo for many. Many have at most one meal per day and it’s usually just a salad.

Want to be as skinny as a rich bitch? Don’t eat.

Rich women aren’t perfect: Zani Gugelmann has four breasts

Here’s an example of when skinny reaches the point when you shouldn’t wear skin tight clothes.

Memo to Zani Gugelmann: ribs aren’t sexy. Really Zani. Seriously.

Oh well, she’s not listening and why should she? The guys are probably all hot for her so as far as she’s concerned anyone who tells her that her ribs make her look like she has four breasts is just jealous.

Some of the comments are quite funny. Must agree with Virginian’s:

When your ribs are bigger than your breasts, it’s time to eat a cheeseburger – or two.

Zani clearly thinks she has a killer body. Why else would she have opted for a body stocking disguised as a dress?

The self love diet – the person you see in the mirror is worth the same as the person you want to become

It’s important to be able to look at yourself and see your full worth no matter what your size and shape. You’re not worth more or less depending on how much you weigh and what size your wear.

The above Lowell Herrero prints are said to depict “whimsically exaggerated characters”. They are not meant to have anything to do with weight but I thought they were interesting in the way they show that life and living are the things that matter.

Choose to accept the gift of being. You are not your weight. You are not your dress size. What makes you valuable and beautiful cannot be measured with a scale or a measuring tape.

The Self Love Diet – coming to terms with your relationship with food

You’re not overeating because you’re a pig. You’re not a pig. You’re a person. You overeat because there is something psychologically out of balance and you’re using food either to punish yourself or to comfort yourself. You might not realize that’s what you’re doing.

At this point you’re probably well established in your eating habits and at the stage where the real problem is buried under layers of new problems that have piled up since you started in your habit of using food to cope whether you eat to punish yourself or eat to comfort yourself. You probably have bought into the idea that your weight problems have to do with age, genetics and all the other ideas that get thrown around out there. No doubt these things play a role, but you know deep down that you’ve been eating quarts of ice cream and having whole cakes in one sitting. You’ve been finishing off entire pizza pies and having much more food than is normal. Is it because you’re a glutton? Come on, you know yourself. You love food and it’s okay to love food, but you’re not eating the way you eat because you love food. You’re not a glutton. Frankly the idea of gluttony should be reassessed because it’s clear that people who gorge themselves on food have deeper psychological problems than just being “greedy”.

Victorias Secret Models Vs Lane Bryant Models

Victorias Secret Models Vs Lane Bryant Models

So you want to be skinny. Okay. But let me ask you this. Why do you want to be skinny? Do you want to be skinny because you think you’ll be worth more as a skinny woman than you’re worth right now? When you go out and see skinny women at the mall do you hate yourself and wish you were like them? Why? Because society values them more than society values you? Because you value them more than you value yourself?

Is that really okay with you to go around believing you’re worth less than girls/women who are skinnier than you? Does it seem right or even reasonable to hate yourself because you can’t fit into a pair of size 2 jeans?

I know, everybody wants to be skinny. Skinny rules, and that’s never going to change.

I get that you’d rather be admired than scorned and skinny people are admired over not so skinny people.

I get that it’s considered more enviable to model for Victoria’s Secret than to model for Lane Bryant. So I’m not going to try to talk you out of wanting to be skinny. It’s okay to want to feel good about yourself, and if being skinny will make you feel good about yourself then by all means try to get skinny.

In the meantime think about this: Do you really want to diminish your own self-worth to a measure of how skinny or fat you are? Do you know that you don’t need to be skinny to feel good about yourself?

In fact, you can be skinny and still hate yourself. I know this for a fact. Being skinny never stopped me from hating myself and hating my life. I was as suicidal while weighing 98 pounds as while weighing 150 pounds. I was the same person skinny as fat. Nothing was different inside and being skinny didn’t make my misery more bearable. I never had a day of saying “I feel like hanging myself, but at least I wear size 1 jeans and have a twenty-inch waist.”

The way I see it, aspiring to  be a happy bitch is more worthwhile than aspiring to be a skinny bitch. Go on a diet to lose your self hate, your depression, your obsession with weight, and everything else will fall into place.

When you are happy you live life more fully and take better care of yourself, and when you are living life to the fullest and taking good care of yourself the evidence will be physically manifested.

Happiness and contentment with life is the only diet pill you need. Forget the skinny bitch nonsense with its obsessive focus on your physical appearance. The stress from trying to lose weight to measure up to the skinny bitch image will usually lead to greater misery which will only help to keep you trapped in the cycle of eating to cope with your misery. Fix the real problems that lie at the root of your weight issues. Learn to love yourself and love life and the rest will fall into place.
