So you’re thinking maybe you might have to rob a bank are you?

At 11:07 a.m. on Saturday October 25th, a woman walked into a Washington Mutual Bank branch at 480 Glen Creek Road NW in Salem Oregon and demanded cash after handing a note to a teller claiming she had a gun in her purse. In a similar fashion, Robin Lori Miller, the 39-year old head teller at First Citizens National Bank in Canton, Pennsylvania, abused her access to customer’s accounts back in May, stealing a total of $35,485 from the bank over a period of a few days.

Movies like Mad Money which stars Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes glamorize and make a comedy of the idea of women stealing money; but in the real world there is nothing glamorous or funny about robbing banks, whether you’re robbing a bank in an obscure little town that no one has ever heard about or you’re robbing the federal reserve.

Why would a beautiful young model kill herself by jumping off the 9th floor balcony of her Manhattan apartment?

Model Ruslana Korshunova is believed to have committed suicide on June 28, 2008 at around 2:30 p.m.; although there are many who doubt that the beautiful model did, in fact, commit suicide. Police ruled her death a suicide because they did not find any signs of a struggle in her apartment. Assuming her death was indeed a suicide, one of the main questions being asked is: “Why would such a beautiful girl with a thriving modeling career want to kill herself?”

No one who is on top of the world intentionally jumps off it. No one who is happy commits suicide. Ruslana Korshunova’s friends insist she was happy. If the model did indeed kill herself, clearly she was also a very good actress who was able to conceal her real pain from the world.

Curb that jealousy

Some women just seem to have it all don’t they? They don’t just get a slice of the pie, the entire thing is served to them on a platter, with more pies brought in before they can even lick their finger from eating a thin slice of the first. It can make it hard not to hate them knowing how hard you’re struggling to get even a crumb from the crust of one pie.

Hating these women who appear to have it all is pointless. No one ever said life was fair.

No brains, no beauty, no talent – no money

This is not the first time it has occurred to me that I might be completely doomed. There was a time when I believed I possessed brains, beauty and talent, but over the years I came to realize that no one on the planet agreed with my assessment of myself. Still, I refused to believe I was worth as little as every one else seemed to believe I was worth; and I made it my life’s goal to prove the world wrong in their assumption that I was a nobody going nowhere.

Once upon a time I was determined that I was going to become a success in life even though no one expected me to amount to anything. I was going to make a name for myself one way or another.

What can you do Punchinella?

I am living in a never-ending nightmare….

Did you ever play that game as a kid when a group of children would form a circle, and someone would stand in the middle of the circle, and the kids would start singing:

Oh look who’s here Punchinella Punchinella, Oh look who’s here Punchinella from the zoo.

Oh what can you do Punchinella Punchinella, Oh what can you do Punchinella from the zoo.

Oh we can do it too Punchinella Punchinella, Oh we can do it too Punchinella from the zoo.

Cute, pretty, beautiful, attractive – which describes you?

There was a time when I aspired to be devastatingly beautiful. I would wear so much make-up that people would actually comment on the street when I passed by that I was wearing too much make-up. However their comments didn’t stop me from transforming my face daily with thick layers of foundation, face powder, exaggerated eye-liner, caked-on mascara and bright red lipstick trying to make myself beautiful.

I remember the first time I asked someone if I was cute, pretty or beautiful and they said I wasn’t cute, pretty or beautiful. It was a substitute teacher named Mr. Calhoun.

When Mister Calhoun said he would use the word attractive to describe me it completely devastated me.

I could have lived with pretty if not beautiful, or cute if neither beautiful nor pretty, but attractive? Attractive didn’t sit too well with me.

These days I realize that a woman can be cute, pretty or beautiful without necessarily being attractive; so maybe having Mr. Calhoun calling me attractive was not such a bad thing after all.

A Saturday in the life – all work – no salsa

The hubby is off today so there’s not going to be any such thing as peace and quiet.

Being poor means living in a two-bedroom apartment and having my home office setup in a corner of the living room. That means that when the hubby has the day off I don’t have the peaceful and quiet environment in which I prefer to work. Presently the hubby is watching something about UFO encounters. His tendency to believe almost anything he hears on the television is not the thing I love or admire most about him.

I’m not much of TV person myself. It’s a rare day you will find me watching television, but that’s just because I’m never really inactive. Television watching requires having nothing to do and there’s really never a time I have nothing to do. You might regard this blog as evidence that I have nothing to do, but this blog is part of business for me. I update it daily as part of the growth and development process. It is one of many websites I have developed since starting in web development a decade ago. I’m not sure what I’ll be able to do with this site.
