Rich bitch profile of the week 07-28-2008
By Rich Bitch • Jul 28th, 2008 • Category: News | Books | Rich women | EventsThere is not much biographical information to be found on Chu Lam Yiu. In fact, her name was completely unfamiliar until turning up an article on the world’s youngest women billionaires. Chu Lam Yiu hold’s the distinction, as of today’s date, of being the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire. She’s 38 and hold’s an estimated net worth of $1.9 billion according to the 2008 Forbes list of world’s billionaires released back in March 2008.
Next to figures like $22.9 billion which is the estimated net worth of Liliane Bettencourt, the richest woman in the world (as of today’s date), $1.9 billion might not look too impressive; but do check your own bank account balance before deciding that Chu Lam Yiu’s $1.9 billion is nothing to brag about. And remember, Chu Lam Yiu did not inherit any of this money, which is not meant to discredit the achievements of our previously featured rich bitch billionaire women who came into their billions by way of an inheritance.
Chu Lam Yiu has managed to reach billionaire status a good 20-something years ahead of the reported average age of 61.5 (for women) and she has accomplished her feat as the head of Huabao International, a company she herself started a decade ago. Her company makes fragrances and flavorings for cigarettes, detergents, beverages, dairy products and cosmetics.
Chu Lam Yiu ranks #652 on the world billionaires list.

She looks like an amazing woman, and since she’s from a city like Hongkong, her contribution to the business is even more awe inspiring. If the company is a decade old then she must have been a young 28 yr old, and in ten years to be on the forbes list is something that only dreams are made of. She should be saluted not as a woman but as a young entrepreneur who dared to different and the result is for the world to see.
Self made, my god I hate that term. No one is truly self made, everyone has help from someone. Her parents probably 1. gave her somewhere to live, 2. paid for her schooling and 3. gave her all the emotional support she needs.
A lot of people don’t even have those three things above as they costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, that’s hundreds of thousands of dollars inherited from her parents.
“Self made” suggests that any intelligent, hard working person could make it without any help from anyone else regardless of their starting circumstances which is not true.
