Polyamory and the Warren Buffet Susan Buffet Astrid Menks affair

Have you ever heard the term polyamory? In Wikipedia terms, polyamory is “the desire, practice, or acceptance of having more than one loving, intimate relationship at a time with the full knowledge and consent of everyone involved”.

Warren Buffet, the current richest man in the world was reportedly involved, for decades, in a polyamoric relationship with his first wife Susan Buffet who is now deceased, and his current wife Astrid Menks. It seems Warren and his first wife Susan separated back in the late seventies. She moved from Omaha to California and Astrid Menks sort of took over her role in Warren’s life at her urging and with her blessing. Susan and Warren never divorced and even maintained a close and seemingly intimate relationship. Susan was fine with sharing Warren with Astrid, Astrid was fine with sharing Warren with Susan and Warren was probably more than fine that they were both fine with sharing him.

One wonders what role money played in this cute little arrangement. It started all the way back in the 1970s but Warren Buffet was still rich at that time. He wasn’t a billionaire yet but he was reportedly worth $25 million by 1970 and $140 million by 1979. Was it that Susan didn’t want to walk away from that,  or was it Warren who didn’t want to let her go? Whatever the case, Susan Buffet and Astrid Menks were two very fortunate females.

Polyamory involving one man and two women is probably easier to endure when the man at the center is the richest man in the world. What do you think?
